Mathematics technology provides advanced solutions to diverse problems encountered in companies in the development of their productive activity. Capacities range from designing production processes to optimize costs to designing energy efficient buildings, through risk analysis in financial investments, to name some of their applications.

The Institute of Mathematics of the University of Seville (IMUS) has been making mathematical technology transfer in various fields. On one hand, it manages several projects with companies (Abengoa Solar, Repsol Petroleum, Virtualmech, among others). Furthermore, it organizes activities to promote the transfer of mathematical technology. This applies to the European Study Group with Industry (ESGI), coorganized with the MathematicsIndustry network (Mathin), held in past February. The ESGI are articulated in the constitution of working groups for discussion and resolution of issues raised by the participating companies. However, this activity requires prior knowledge on the part of companies of capabilities to solve their problems through mathematical technology, which is still little known.

The activity raised to address this problem. This is to promote awareness of the capabilities of mathematical technology by companies participating in the Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA). It is planned to present several case studies of companies that have collaborated with the participating research groups. Also to present the capacities of these groups in a broad framework, which pose design and production processes that would apply, generating significant improvements that result in cost savings and improved environmental impact.
