Camassa-Holm equation - what happens after the waves break?

The Camassa-Holm equation is a celebrated model of water waves in shallow canals. One of its important features is that it accounts for wave-breaking - the wave profile developing a vertical slope in finite time. We will discuss what happens when the wave breaks, how to understand it mathematically, and what possible scenarios there exist to prolong the solution after the breaking time. In particular we will investigate the key issue of selecting a unique global solution.
